What is the basic function of the grate cooler in the precalciner kiln system?

Grate cooler is an important part in the pre-calciner kiln system. It plays a key role in the stable operation of the kiln. And its basic functions are described in detail below.

The grate cooler has three basic functions:

（1）Cool the clinker

The clinker temperature after cooling is an important index of the performance of grate cooler, which reflects the cooling effect of grate cooler and creates conditions for subsequent processes, including the transportation and storage of clinker and cement grinding. At present, the general manufacturer's guarantee value for this temperature is 65℃+ ambient temperature.

（2）Heat the second and third air into the kiln

After the heat exchange between the cold air and the high temperature clinker (~1370℃ ) from the kiln, the heat of the clinker is recovered and the air temperature rises. According to the different heat transfer efficiency, the second and third air temperature is between 800 and 1100℃. Therefore, the high temperature section of the grate cooler needs to maintain a thick material layer of more than 800mm.At the same time, the blower under the grate plate must be a high-pressure fan. And there is a fixed grate plate with a certain length of inclined to improve heat recovery and the distribution of materials on the grate bed.

（3）Convey and crush high temperature clinker

Control the clinker temperature of grate cooler in a reasonable range, reduce the exhaust gas temperature ,reduce the power consumption of the exhaust fan and the burden of the dust collector.
